BREE – To win was the only chance for both times to remove to the CEV cup, after the loss of Moscow against Paris (1-3). Noliko couldn’t win in Bled but meanwhile there were a lot of changes in both teams. Bled owns the American players Tiliaferro, Scott en Delano but the top belongs to Cuturic and Tine Urnaut (halfbrother of ex-Noliko-player Andrej Urnaut). Noliko and Bled know each other through and through.
The teams stayed at level with good blocks of captain Georg Wiebel and a good serving setter Pinheiro. Bled finished secure (Urnaut and Thomas) after 6-8 and 15-16 and took the first set with 20-25.
Noliko Maaseik had the better start in the second set (0-3). A strong serving and attacking ACH Bled returned and both teams stayed closed up to 10-10. Noliko Maaseik was more convenient and ended the second set with few problems via 16-11 and 25-18.

Same scene in set three with a first technical time-out at 8-7. Bled kept coming to 22-22 but Kay van Dijk made the difference: 2-1 after 25-22.
Noliko seemed suddenly tob e unbeatable with once again a tremendous Kay van Dijk (8-4 en 16-10). Reception, service, block and attack: all ended well.

Title: Courageous Maaseik looses from the world team from Moscow.
Result: 0-3
Sets: 20-25 ; 23-25 ; 22-25

BREE – With the arrival of Dinamo Moscow on Wednesay evening, a worldteam visited the Expodroom. Last year Dinamo Moscow missed the title of the Indesit Champions League. Noliko was more than motivated after the strong effort against Paris Volley. Interesting detail:with Dinamo Moscow there is not only a bunch of World players, coached by the Italian Daniele Bagnoli but also with … Alan Barbosa, a few years ago a player in Maaseik but now playing for this topteam in Russia.
Dinamo Moscow is unbeaten in poule F, Noliko Maaseik is on a nice second place more nevertheless the underdog against Moscow. In the beginning Maaseik is not impressed by this team: they stay close up to 13-13. Moscow makes a little difference (14-16) and at 17-20 coach Vital Heynen asks for a break. With no result: 20-25. In the second set, Moscow takes the better start 3-5, but Maaseik returns up to 7-7. Both teams stay close up to 16-17. Moscow ends, in a thrilling set with 23-25.
Same scenario in the third set: Moscow stays a few points ahead but Maaseik fights back, guided by youngster Gert Van Walle up to 14-11. Moscow returns and ends the game at last with 22-25.

The Moskowian Pavel Kruglov said after the game to be impressed by the defence of Maaseik and expects a heavy return in Russia.
The assistant-coach of Maaseik, Erik Verstraten was rather disappointed because there was more in this game than the result will say.

BREE – Noliko Maaseik lost last week in the Indesit Champions League at the Slobenian Bled and was on Thuesday placed before a certain fact: winning against Paris Volley. Last season Noliko won twice against the French but this time it was gambling: Paris lost its First game against Moscow and had to win against Maaseik.

The visitors in the Expodroom in Bree were whitness of an equal starting First set. Both teams kept together up to 16-16. Paris had some strong attacks but Maaseik had the best defence. With a killblock of Wiebel and Van Dijk they turned to 20-19; time for a time out for Coach Motta Paes from Paris. The same scenes with 22-21. Some changes in both teams but Maaseik had the best finish: Vandijk ended with a marvellous jumpserve and an attack behind the 3.

Paris had once again a good start and leaded with 6-8. Maaseik started for a short while its heavy service pressure and jumped over Paris untill 10-9. They stayed equal just as in the first set but the winner was Maaseik with 26-24.

More confidence with the Belgian team in the third set: with as result a 25-20 end and 3-0 for a good playing Maaseik

Coach Motta Paes of Paris: “ Noliko Maaseik was simply the beter team through the whole game.”
Kay van Dijk of Noliko Maaseik : “Our plan did work: you could see it in the killblocks.”
